Spring Cleaning and Organizing-COMPLETE!

If you’ve been following along, we’ve covered most of the high points of getting your house cleaned and organized for spring. Once you’ve done a final generalized cleaning, you are ready for a REFRESH.

Refreshing your house in the spring is fun! This is when you take a look at all the decor, the items you have chosen to collect and display, and see if they fit your idea of happiness.

Most people put up curtains ONCE in a room. Those curtains may remain untouched for years (but hopefully, cleaned on occasion!). Take a look at them…do they unite the color and theme of your room? Is the style updated? Do you give your room the “feel” you like? You can do the same with throw pillows, bedspreads, pictures on the wall. Sometimes we just need to refresh!

A trip to a local fabric store is always an opportunity for inspiration. Look at the colors and patterns that are trending. See something you like? Ask for a sample, or take a picture. Go to Hobby Lobby, and browse the aisles. Look online at Pinterest, and start collecting images that speak to you.

Now, take this all a step further. Start making small purchases that really speak to you. Your home should be a representation of your personality and lifestyle. It should also be a place where you feel inspired, comfortable, and safe. I find that I gravitate towards a particular style, but I don’t stay true to it if I fall in love with something that doesn’t match. I’ve been in many homes where there is theme, and not one decoration is out of line. If that is your style, embrace it! Don’t feel tied to keeping on trend, however, if you really love a piece, but don’t think it “matches.” Your home is a reflection of YOU. Do that loud and do that proud!
